The Atlantic Salmon Federation's Special Fall Events are coming up in Montreal, Chicago, Saint John, Ottawa and New York. These events have a major role in supporting restoration and research efforts to ensure the future of wild Atlantic salmon. For more details on the events, previews of auctions and other info, go to:

In New Brunswick, a recent article described the important economic impact of Atlantic salmon angling to the province. Paul Volcker, former Chairman of the US Federal Reserve, ASF's Bill Taylor and others are quoted. Click here:

Atlantic salmon restoration can work for all. One recent story of inspiration was the return of more than 1,000 adult Atlantic salmon to the Seine River in France - swimming right by the great monuments such as Notre Dame. ASF's Sue Scott is quoted in National Geographic's article on this story.

In Newfoundland, salmon angling is also important to both the heritage of the province and its economy - and this week 50 charges of poaching were laid against individuals on the Great Northern Peninsula. For more:

I haven't read the book, but I've had dinner with Peter a couple of times. During a relatively private conversation he'll tell you things he's not likely to even put in a book. He truly has no use for the organization and he does bring up some very interesting and seemingly valid reasons. I just feel we're far better off with the ASF than we'd ever be without them.
