I know I'm responding to an old thread but those are some good looking crabs! When I'm not at the cape house, I live in DC and people down here think they invented blue crabs but the crabbing was really good on the cape this summer. One afternoon, with the boat on the hook, we were just scooping swimming blue crabs out of the water there were so many.
True - a great year like those when I was a kid. I'm sure it cycles.
I got great training from a retired DC guy who lived near where I stayed on the cape when I was a kid. I had to do some remembering but it really paid off this summer.
I could go out and only keep softshell crabs by late summer! Got 7 big softshells one outing and threw dozens of big hardshells back... during a lunch break!
