What kind of hatches take place in October? Fish rising all around, but could not figure out what they were taking.

Chironomids hatch 24/7/365 rivers, streams, and especially lakes. Some of them can be quite large in fact. I can't speak for MA but we have some smaller May flies and Caddis that come off here into late October early November. Generally our flies start getting smaller as the air starts getting cooler. Since lakes are less effected by air temps the hatches tend to last all year. Dunno if that helps or not.

I like the salmon egg hatch in the fall and so do our lake run browns, steelhead, salmon, and lake trout out here in greal lakes country.:smokin:

Okay its not a fly hatch but beleive me that is what most of the fish in river will be keyed onto if there andramous fish or browns spawning in the fall.
