Just got a Garmin 182 from broken leg Dave. I hope to get it in this weekend.
I'd been using a handheld Garmin Legend with the bluecharts loaded but the display was too small and it eats a fair number of batteries.
My current FF is way old and been dropped a few times. Sometimes it just cuts out when I'm trying to navigate some stucture (read: trying not to run aground ):) . So it's time to look for something else. I have my eye on the Eagle 320 and the Humminbird 37 any opinions on these?

Jim,

For less than the Eagle:

Furuno LS4100 TM
with transom mount depth temp transducer
5" monochrome display LCD
dual frequency 50/200KHZ
350 watt
13513
sale $195.98

I have the LS6100 and it kicks a$$.

If money were no object get the Furuno 582 color.

I' ll call your office.

Roop

We've got the Furuno FCV-600L. We haven't used it yet but we've heard positive things. I'll report on our experience if we ever transform our thing from lawn ornament to boat. I think Mike picked it up for somewhere in the $600 range.

garmin 240

Jim, I picked up the 240 blue(reg would be cheaper, and I never use the dual freq anyways)... anyhow, it gives great definition and I'm shooting thru the hull(not thru-hull transducer)
