favorite chironomid pattern

Well it is getting to be that time of year again, stock your boxes. Just wondering what your favorite chironmid patterns are. Mine would have to be the frostbite chironomid, hard to go wrong.

Chirono-zug

This is my GO-TO pattern, among many other favorites.
Hook: TMC #2487 - 10 to 14
Weight: lead wire .010 6 wraps at the front end only
Tail: Red Squirrel
Body: one or two peacock herl wrapped around the thread before winding on the hook
Rib: Fine copper (yellow) or Brass (redddish) wire
Mini-Wing: Pheasant tail fibres that show the light brown portion

Sean, this pattern is very versatile.
Typically, a long leader, straight mono as suggested by Kush, anywhere from 12 feet to 20 feet, based on structure of the lake.
Let it sink then hand over hand retrieve, slow is never slow enough!
Alternate and also very successfull is to cast, sink the fly and slowly move about in the pontoon boat, dragging the fly, hits usually occur on the rise of the fly.
When fish get selective on other patterns, this is the one I go to!
