Hey all im completely new to fly fishing and I really want to learn how to master the sport as it looks so much fun and exciting. First of all i bought some leaders which are called "knotless" and they have a loop at the end. I am wondering if with this loop you would just tie the fly line in a clinch knot through this loop or how do I do this? Thanks
The loop in the knotless leaders you bought are for looping them to a short (6"-1') , thick (25# or 30# maxima for instance) leader section (called a leader butt) you nail knot to the end of the fly line. You attach your fly to the un-looped end with the clinch or whatever knot you prefer.
