Late start this morning at 6 am.... Low tide, overcast, slight south west wind and humid....perfect!... But the fish did not respond today... met up with FredA and Tim Watts and we fished the breakers on the early incoming then headed down south beach... thought about doing the rip rider as was the plan but we were at the beach and it looked like it might thunder. So off we went down just north of the drop of and started fishing back up to the point...nothing..lots of seals but that did not matter as I had caught fish among the seal anyway... Got the skunk off with a feisty 28 incher...but that was it... Good tides next weekend and will be in Chatham for the week..plan on the ocean side and a walk with Juro to the bay side.... where are the allnighter reports... everyone sleeping today? We got back to the cars around 11 ..with no tickets
My day started at o'dark thirty, after a little shuteye I rendezvous'ed with the all-nighter gang, Todd and Ken and a group of anglers battling with the scary night giants of the striped variety. I yakk'ed over to greet them, catching them by surprise with a box o' joe from the all night coffee shop. Before I could even finish saying hello, a sloshing sound called from the muggy night and I put a black snake fly on by moonlight to investigate. Swish, swish, the rod loaded and the fly propelled into the darkness, the line straightening from my basket and telling me the cast was good. The current swept my line left to right, and I pointed the rod to follow. Strip. Strip long, stop. Strip, strip. BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP oh crap there's the alarm, it was only a dream - I gotta wake up, get dressed and get to work today!
John - that walk will be the weekend after, I have two trips booked next weekend and I need to pick up Tyler at Logan Sat night.
Right..I got it confused... make sure Tyler fishes ,if he can , Sunday morning...I spoke with Penguin tonight and I know Tyler is staying at Area 61...so lets plan on meeting for a nature walk.
As I understand it, Kush is going to stay with me and part of the time downtown until the fourth, then head down Cape to Area 61. The Huck Finn "fish till you drop fest" starts then and runs until I pick up Tom Sawyer in Providence on the 9th (Doublespey) when we turn it up a notch. From the 9th thru the 13th it will be the hunt for striped behemoths until our guests head west.
From Thursday of next week (4th) thru the following weekend (13th) we'll just have to show them why we are so fanatic about the coastal flyfishing scene! This is Brian's second visit, I hosted him a few years back. This is Kush's first visit, and boy is he in for a pleasant surprise. Guys it's been a smokin' season and it appears that things are only going to get better.
Many have already offered to show them around, thanks. And to those who haven't yet these are two of our best representatives from the great northwest and if you can you ought to hook up with Kush and Doublespey while they are here in our home waters.
Juro is right, I will be seeing the sights in Boston until the 4th. After all this is part of our 25th Anniversary trip. Once we get to the Cape then it is cowabunga with Peguin's Area 61 as the headquarters for extensive sorties into the surf! My anticipation and excitement knows no bounds and I look forward to meeting as many board members as we can - see you soon (only 5 more days).:hehe: :eyecrazy: :smokin:
OK...we will need to get together during that period... I am on vacation that week..the 4th so we have several days before I have to go back to work on the 8th...then back for two weeks starting th weekend of the 13th.
