I recently picked up the SW1030. I'm not ready to comment on it because I haven't put it through its paces yet. I'm generally impressed and like the equivelent 28 to 105mm zoom but have not got used to not having the viewfinder and I have a few shots with my finger at the top edge of the pic. Paid $319 at amazon plus another $25 for a 2 gig memory card. I'm thinking I should have picked up the sw770 which was available for pretty short money (I believe the 1030 is its replacement).
Agreed on the 1030 software. Again, I haven't made any effort to get familiar with it but the software is annoying. All's I want to do is download the damn pics to a directory of my choosing...
Why use the vendor's SW? Just put the card in a card reader and it's treated like a removable drive.
