Finally some rain...
Last fall we got gypped and it was looking like more of the same for this fall- but we were saved by Izadore. The rain we got Friday night was just what we needed to get things going at the Waterville/ Winslow impoundment. The freshet coming out of the mountains pushed all the young-of-the-year alewifes down to the tidal reachs. Saturday evening and Sunday were Awesome. 28" to 38"/ 18# - 25# fish busting clouds of bait. These are the fat fish all stuffed and ready for the migration. The best part is they are keyed on 2" - 5" bait so a deceiver or bunker fly in 00 - 02 aree all you need. Aslo poppers and gurglers are turning cows away from the center of the bait ball.
The rain was all it took.
Looking forward to getting together this Saturday for one last Chatham forray. Who'll be around and hows the fishin?
