Sol Duc Variation

Been asking a lot of questions lately, so I thought I would try to give a little back...

One of my friends calls me an "Atlantic Steelhead" fisher because I prefer to use some of the more traditional and classically styled patterns to chase Steelhead. (Not always, but most often.) This variation on the Sol Duc spey has really been productive. I like goose quill wings better than hackle tips, so that's where the main difference between this and the original lies.

As well, I would have preferred a slightly softer spey hackle, but one must make do with what he has. Next time, perhaps marabou.

Hope this takes a few fish for you!
