My brother has one of these reels. He doesn't have any complaints with the retrieval or drag systems, but he doesn't fish nearly as often as I do, so it hasn't seen the pounding that my equipment takes. I tried it out for a short while the last time that we chased fish together, and it seemed OK.

I'm sold on the Orvis Battenkill LA. It's takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Of course, it also costs twice as much as the trillium. ^_^ If my brother starts to pound on his gear as often as I do, I'll let you know how the reel holds up.
