Not that particular jungle so you can leave those gators in place for Leland :).

Will have to remember to bring a sacrificial chicken next time I am in the jungle to appease the gator gods. And then run like hell :chuckle:

We will be in a jungle of sorts though. Think lots of rain and moss covered trees...

It is going to be low and cold and for some reason that makes me think blue and black. This is actually my bastardized version of a Moonlight pattern he submitted for the Seattle Show flytalk booth a couple years back. Not looking too similiar now with the addition of rhea but still for me has the same soul. I call it Jack Moonlight version 5.0.

Hey Sean,

Now you've gone and done it! You showed the world blue and black flies for winter steelhead. You have to remeber this color combo was a northwest secret reserved for those who had been properly baptised through countless hours walking river banks in winter rain storms and the occasional slip of the feet and resulting dunking in 40 degree water.

Very nice spey flies though.

Those flys won't work, but you 'host' can show you some trees that have some real great patterns hanging in them!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Don't drink the coffee, ya following me here ?

NorthFk - :chuckle:

Be careful... I still have steelhead swap flies from your past in my collection at home and a scanner :lildevl: Should I post Ryan's "pink tickler" in the archives?

Flytyer -

I know you jest but would compare my footsteps in soggy places with most anyone's as I started steelheading 26 yrs ago and over 20 of them were in the PNW, surprised these feet are not webbed yet. Of course I have been distracted by staying on top of my striper game having moved, and exploring new destinations in the tropics (Acklins here we come!) but in my heart of hearts I am a Spey angler with steelhead and salmon on my mind.

Sean may have been feeling blue but I was feeling a little green... too many miles flown/driven, too many beers and too little sleep (e.g. an hour maybe?). Had a great day nonetheless yesterday, lots of experimentation and spent some quality time with a Scandinavian style line on the Skagit Specialist. A steelhead was not in the cards, but there is always pre-clave and post-clave.

Work day today; then see all at the clave this weekend!
