Phil,
Bangup job on the meistering. I have been following the threads and seeing how things have been shaping up. I have in the past made plans with all of the best intentions of attending several get togethers but have run into problems everytime. So this time around I will make no promises but I am thinking seriously about being there. I have been battling right shoulder pain for the better part of three months now and this has put an abrupt end to my recent fishing exploits but if I do get some positive recuperative results in the next week I will make a concerted effort to attend at least one day. My thinking at this point is a possible Friday sortie to maybe do some pre-clave scouting for the group so as to give everyone a good starting point for Saturday. I am going to shoot the boss an email requesting Friday off and see what happens. If I do get the day off I can give Phil a call with results and advice. I can cover some serious ground with the boat and this should be very helpful to the whole group. All up in the air at this point but if I can make it happen I will. I think Sandy Point is not a bad idea but could definitely be a wrong turn at this point in the season, there will undoubtedly be fish in that area but the bigger fish would not pick this area as their first feeding spot. I think the better plan would be to do the cell phone thing and strategically place people from east to west from PJ to Watch Hill or even as far west as Niantic as this is always a very good spot for guys to target hardtails. Another great place not mentioned by the yak crew is Pine Island, which is just west of Bluff Point, it is right at Avery Point on the east side of the Thames River and I have on many occassions in the past had fantastic Albie fishing as well as bass and blues right outside of the Pine Island Harbor. There is an area up inside that is very popular with the yak crowd that is very similar to Sandy Point and also protected and marshy. I know guy's have had some awesome days up inside here in the fall as the bass chased huge schools of peanut bunker up into the marsh. Plus it is close to deeper water and the Thames River. Just some more stock for the pot Phil use the ingredients at your discretion.
Holy smokes Mike! Great info for the group. I love the Poquonouck River area just inside of Pine Island. I usually fish it in November. Bluff Point Beach is a great last spot of the season to fish.
Mike. Please PM JF Basser your cell number for the tree. He is command central.
I'm sure I am speaking from all of us hoping you the best in your recovery. If scout you must, then by all means let us know where the big girls are and please, join us for dinner!
Phil,
Already PM'ed JF last night he has my numbers and I have his. I am really serious about making a huge effort to help out for this it just hinges on whether or not I am physically able to pull it off or not. This shoulder thing has really been a huge thorn in my side for some time now and is getting to the point of me taking the bull by the horns and forcing a doctor to do something. If not for the prescriptions I have been given I would be completely out of commission as the pain from this injury is unbearable. never had anything like this before and it is really debilitating. This started way back when I was chasing the bluefin and I remember one trip coming back to Pt. Jude in 5-6 ft. waves just being in agony with every wave pounding we took. Had not seen the doc yet back then so I was not getting anything at all for the pain. Still don't know what is causing it, saw chiropractor last friday and took some x-rays but he doesn't know either what is going on. I am scheduling an MRI next week to once and for all figure out what is up.
