I've been using premium flurocarbon for sunken-tip steelhead fishing for several years, and I'm quite satisfied with it. But I've no experience with its use in smaller sizes for trout. Question: when used as tippet in the smaller sizes used for trout dry flies, say 4X and smaller, does its greater density interfere with the fly's ability to remain floating, or is it too small to matter?
I agree....I like to fish smaller dries and have better luck with regular mono keeping them afloat. Also cheaper.....save your expensive fluoro for underneath!
I tried using a fluorocarbon leader to fish dries for steelhead once. Big mistake! It woud cause even a riffle-hitched waller waker or bomber to go subsurface!
Works great for a dropper nymph for trout though.
