Flurocarbon tippet for dry flies?

I've been using premium flurocarbon for sunken-tip steelhead fishing for several years, and I'm quite satisfied with it. But I've no experience with its use in smaller sizes for trout. Question: when used as tippet in the smaller sizes used for trout dry flies, say 4X and smaller, does its greater density interfere with the fly's ability to remain floating, or is it too small to matter?
