The proposed regulations are out for oregon . here is the link

http://www.dfw.state.or.us/ODFWhtml/InfoCntrFish/2005_regdev.pdf

one of the propsed regs will allow anglers to kill 1 wild winter steelhead per day and 5 per season on the umpqua river.
The other one that caught my eye was aproposal to allow the use of weight flys in the fly water.

it looks like it is time to start writing letters.

Well, to be devil's advocate on maintaining the status quo in not allowing weighed flies. Those in favor of allowing weighted flies could counter potential opposition by asking for a ban on spey rods asserting that they create additional pressure on the fishery (by enabling presentation to fish that would otherwise not have been harrassed--(that's lame but someone could assert it)). A slippery slope to say the least.

killing wild steelhead!

this is friggen stupid,,,with a capitol friggen,,,,the fishery doesn't have enough fish in it,,poaching is commonplace downriver,,and as far as weighted patterns go even when they were allowed ,the fishing wasn't `that' good, one fish a day is `good'???,,i know a guy who fishes the fastwater slot just below rock ck.they use 6 ounces of lead/roe,,the `narrows' it's called,,,certainly the weighted patterns from the fly only section aren't much of a factor in poluting the water,,they need to get those smallies out of the middle:rolleyes:
