This past week I fished the St.-Jean in Gaspe, Quebec for 2 days. The river condition was a bit high and cold for this time of year. I landed 2 grilse via a "hitched" Green Butt and raised a couple of salmon on a bomber. There were good fishing reports for all 3 of the Gaspe rivers, especially on the open zones of the York and Dartmouth.
After the St.-Jean, we went to the Miramichi and found there had been a 4 foot raise of water. We fished for 2 days and much to our surprise landed 3 grilse, all on size 8 Ally's Shrimp. In spite of the high water, salmon and grilse were running the Renous and the Main Southwest Miramichi. It should be really good there about now. To sum up my trip, at least I didn' get skunked.
