Tube Flies - The junction tube

Lots of advantages to tube flies:

1) Can use very "sticky" hooks like the Gamagatsu Octapus
2) Hook detaches from the fly to allow less leverage for the fish to unhook
3) Hook can be rigged point up for less snags

Now the big disadvantage - that ugly junction tube. Looks like heck - very unnatural - not realistic looking at all.

Anyone have ways around the ugly tube junction tube?

One approach I like is to use the colored junction tube - hot red, chartreuse, black, etc. To "tie" a green butt skunk for instance just use the junction tube for the hot color.

This also applies to max canyons, freight trains, etc. Black on black also works.

The mono loop method (e.g. Ed Ward) has no junction tube.
