Diito for what DH has said.
A good test is to completly dunk the lfy in a glass of water and look at the profile when wet. This one looks more bulky than I like, I prefer a longer body profile Vs. a short one like this. Pike seem to agree!

Ahh....it's copied after a steelhead fly. That explains the marabou only. Steelhead flies are usually meant to be dead drifted or swung in current, and for those cases the marabou alone would be just fine for imparting life to the pattern. But pike flies require action to be imparted upon them by the angler, and the pattern you have here is a puffball that will have very little in the way of action, regardless of how bulky it is.

If you do add a rabbit strip tail, it will become a Bouface, which is a very successful pike pattern. Form follows function, and vice versa.
