Just a word to notify those planning a trip. A fire started on Friday, August 16, near river across from Apple Creek campground. Cause is unknown. The fire grew quickly and was most recently reported at 6,000 acres.

The fire is moving east and south. The primary goal of the firefighters is to keep the river away from the river, but it did reach the river in some places. Highway 138 is closed from the Gravel Bin to west of Eagle Rock Campground.

I wish this were a false rumor being spread to reduce the number of anglers on the river, but it is not. Let's hope and pray that this one, as well as the other fires, is contained quickly. Fire is a natural part of forest activities, but...I like the riparian canopy intact.
