Well I am now hooked up. I just wanted to say that the last south monomoy trip proved everything I thought. I look forward to see you guys on Saturday. I asked Juro to publish my report from Chatham light but since I'm on now I want to let you all know that my 15 year old son caught his first Keeper on a wand at the Chatham light on Thusrsday AM. 37 inches and a woping 30 pounds... footballs. The next morning at 5;30 am I snagged a 40 incher at 32 pounds. the very next morning I caught a 39 incher at 20 pounds. I bumped into John Marrotta who did capture a picture... but I think the Chatham light might be a good place to stop before any of you jump on the rip ridder for Keiths usual 8 AM trip. Well the impotant thing is that I have a new fishing buddy even though my son did catch Blues with me of Hardings beach 8 or 10 years ago when we were chucking bait. He's hooked thank God. Two quick points... I will be fishing out of a kayak on North Monomoy from now on weather permitting and will look for the guys who made the first South Monomoy trip and others as well ... also for any Fall trips that are in the making I can put up 7 to 8 people at my place off of Rigevale beach in south Chatham. I mentioned this to Dave Person since he is camping usually. Really ,it would be no problem so let me know .when you will want to be down since my wife and kids will be back up in Boston. I will never forget the sight of looking up and down the beach at south monomy with Juro running around snaping pictures and one, two or three rods bending in a constant flow for that majic hour and one half.
Wow , that sounds very interesting. I was on the last rip trip and I'm going tomorrow. Would like to know more about getting one of thoughs 7 or 8 spots, that way I would not have to drive down from West Boylston, Ma., near Worcester in the morning. My e-mail address at work is cmiller@c-plastics.com. Would be great to here from you.
John,
Just picked up the photos, I will be at the light in the morning I have a few hours to fish. I hope to give them to you if I see you, if not I will leave them with Ed and ask him to pass them on?
Will there be people fishing at the light house early in the morning tomorrow, if so, what time will they be there? Would it be possible to get a few cast in before the boat leaves for the rip trip?
I will be at the Chatham light tomorrow at about 4:30 am. I hope the bait and birds are still rampant. Then to the Rip rider for the 7 AM trip. If the tide is low, there are two spots to fish... deep holes. where the cows hang out. I was not the only one to get these babes at those spots. After My son caught his fish and mine the next day.. word got out and 15 guys were sitting along the hole at low tide with the bait fishermen scoring. Craig, I will talk to you tomorrow about staying at my place. As I said no problem ,but it would have to be after the family goes back to Boston for space reasons. I usually hve a mini clave in the fall anyway with two or three people but look forward to expand that if people are interested... Put on a fire, watch flyfishing videos and hit the sack early. beats driving down. To Bigcat... thanks, I look forward to see you.. but I see you will not be able to make the South Monomoy trip tomorrow.. maybe I will see you at the lighthouse before. Iam using a Chartruse Clouser ,the same one I always use at the lighthouse. Two years ago I caught a 45 incher which Wally Brown out of Falmouth mounted for me. I will show you guys this fly... It looks like a four inch sand eel ,at least to me and I think the fish think so. Slow jerky retrieve.. I will
be in Chatham for the next two weeks and will be fishing every morning then ether to the rip rider for North Monomoy or to N. Monomoy in my Kayak..
John, I'll be in Harwich with my yak so I'd love to do the monamoy thing sometime. here is the number where I'll be aug 12-26th 508-432-8522 Tom D(Dunlap)
I don't know, but I usually just park at the lighthouse parking lot by the stairs going down to the beach. If you are going to fish the lighthouse don't park at the causway. We can head to the causeway at about 6 or 6:30 to make the 7 am boat.
Just got home from the light. Tough morning to FF the wind is howling. Ran into Dave P and John Morin I seen a few keepers tetherd at the point bait fisherman done well. I moved off to the rock pile and picked up 2 small fish 24-26.
