Hello guys, i'm going in Portland in April and am doing a day of guided steelheading and have one free day to fish. Realizing that steelheading can be really tough going, I was thinking of renting a car and fishing the deschutes for trout/steelhead on my second day just to look to getting into some fish.
However, i just saw on Oregon's fish and wildlife site that there is a spring chinook salmon run open this year.
what would you guys recommend? should i stick around portland and go steelheading for an extra day on my own or try for some trout or try for chinook salmon?
i guess i'm a little concerned about going home with no fish. i had a blown out trip last year and don't get out as much. i'm really looking forward to the steelheading, but realize this is a tough fish to catch so would like to split it up a little if everyone recommends this.
does anyone have any thoughts
