The Miramichi is having a good early run of both salmon and grilse. For more information, go to the W W Doak website and click the Miramichi info tab. The Colford Report is especially good. I will be there in less than 2 weeks and will give you all my report.
I am hooked on two-handed rods. While my techinique is far from expert, I am feeling more comfortable with the two-handed rod each time I use one -- which is pretty much exclusively now, I just do not fish as often as I would like.
When I hit the Miramichi, I will almost certainly use two-handers for all my wet fly fishing, but most likely will use a single hander for dry flies. We have six days scheduled -- July 20 through 25 -- and I have high hopes that conditions on the river will be good.
As we all know, the fishing is always excellent, but the catching can be problematic. With the two-hander, the casting is almost as much fun as the catching.
The Miramichi is full of fish! This past weekend I had the best fishing that I have ever had. Simply unbelievable.
