How many turns for the whip finish do you use? I've never been a great midge tier and was working my way up to speed on a #26 bwo pattern for the midge swap when I kept having problems with the tie off. Besides leaving more room at the eye, does anyone have any advise?
John:
I do not use the whip finish tool on anything smaller than #20.
I much prefer to do half hitches with a hitch tool that I made specifically for #22 & smaller. Two hitches usually does it for me, then again using the "spider web" thread, does not allow for anything else.
Thanks Pete, I hadn't thought of using half hitches. I'll try it next time.
