Can any of you guys put me on to a killer still-water emerging midge pupa? I'm looking for a pattern to strip slowly through the surface film this spring, perhaps dropped off an adult spinner.
I have had good results with a pattern that consists of a tiny and short tuft of calf tail for a tail(gills), a body of stripped peacock herl ribbed with transparent thread, a thorax of black dubbing, a tuft of calf tail for the front gills also sparse and short. I fish it both below an indicator at depths to several feet as well as in the method you suggest. I tie it from 18 all the way to a 2xl #8.
Good luck with it.
Ummmm, looks like a Shipman's is the POD on Sexyloops. Got to try it. Thanks.
