Cape May NJ in mid August?

I am going to be in the Cape May NJ area for a few days during the Dog Dayz of August. Any ideas on shore / wade fishing in that area? Too long a trip to drag the boat. I have fished the canal where it meets Delaware Bay in the past with some success for small weakfish, but unsure if anything will be swimming down there during the heat of summer???

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Over the past couple of years I've spent a week in May and another in late August fishing at LBI, just up the coast from Cape May. The only success that I have personally had in August is fishing at dusk and into the late night; fishing during the day hasn't been productive at all. At dusk, I've used poppers until the light in the sky has totally faded, then switch to subsurface baitfish imitations. Most of the fish I've landed have been blues, with the odd striper and weakfish thrown in here and there.
