Lou Tabory developed his snake fly for stripers, and I must say that in black it's one of my favorites for fishing at night. I've been using smaller, brightly colored snake flies the past few seasons for smallmouth bass and have had a ball with the pattern.

Hook: Mustad 3366, size 2
Thread: Yellow, 3/0
Tail: Yellow ostrich herl
Tail flash: Pearl Flashabou
Collar: Two layers of yellow marabou
Head: Yellow deer hair (spun, packed, and trimmed)

I've been trying to work out a few bugs with my new digital camera, so please pardon the lack of sharpness in the image.

Cool flies Mark!

I have more than a few of these in my saltwater fly boxes and never thought of using them for Bass. Now that you have greased the rusty gears in my head, what a good idea. They look very bassy (is that a word?) and I bet they would work for pike as well.

I think that the water displacement from the bullet head is what really makes this fly shine, followed by the wiggling herl tail. Yellow really seems to be the color with this fly for smallies around here, with white a distant second.
