I took Craig J. out with me fishing up around the South County area yesterday 10/17 and we caught fish just about all day. Nothing really big but alot of fish and action. Napatree, Weekapaug, Fishers Island all produced for us. We caught fish on flyrods and spinning rods, we caught them deep and shallow. It was a great day to be out on the water and I enjoyed Craig's company very much. He caught the 2 biggest fish of the day and I will post the pics in a reply. The biggest fish of the day was a fat 34" fish that decided that Craigs hooked bluefish would be better off in it's belly and not in our boat, so Mr. Bass ate Mr. Bluefish and gave us both quite a show. That was a first for me never witnessed a bass eating a bluefish before. All in all a very satisfying day on the water with great company and plenty of fish, honestly could not ask for anything more than that.
I was casting from the bow and bang small blue ... please get off. Mike is in the stern and said, hey big fish chasing the blue, I think it’s a bass and he wants to eat the blue. I'm thinking to myself, no way must be another blue. Wrong! I make my way back to the stern and see a nice bass trying to eat the blue fish. Okay, if you want the blue all yours. Don't ask me how the fish got hooked cause I don't know... beginners luck:smokin: . Landed Mr. Bass, took pic and released Mr. Bass .
We had a great day on the water... lots of fish and Mike knows this stuff. If you haven't taken Mike up on this offer you should. Wait I'm in line first:chuckle:.
Thanks Mike for a fun day... the fish added to a great day on the water. Can't wait to do it again.
Can an Albie be in my future, if I fish with Mike its only a matter of time.
Great shots and fish. I second the opinion that Mike knows his stuff. He's a fish magnet. Let me tell you that he's a better guide than some of the professionals that I've used. FishHawk
Gentlemen,
You are all too kind and I appreciate the accolades very much. I really love to fish and sharing that with others this season has been extremely rewarding for me, so I would like to thank all of those who were able to take me up on my offer of a trip out on my new toy "Hardcore". I am going to try and get some lettering made up this winter with the name so that I can give my boat a proper christening, nothing too large or annoying just something that people can see and say "Hey I know that guy". I have been kicking around the idea of getting my Captain's License this winter and doing a little guided fishing stuff next year on the side, I don't look at this as a full time affair but more as a way to defray costs and also share some of the great fishing areas I have become familar with. What do you all think? You can be honest and I can take it, I know this brings with it alot of draw backs and can be a little tough but I enjoyed taking some of the folks from this website out this year very much and if I am going to be out on the water anyway why not put a little gas money in my pocket as well. I still have lot's to learn but I have also learned alot about fishing in 30 years and I believe that if you stop learning than it is time to take up another hobby because you are missing the point of fishing altogether. If I do go through with my idea of getting the license I would like to extend to all on this website another offer of a 25% discount if you would like to join me next year for a day of fishing. I don't know how much all of this will cost me so I need to do some research but the offer will stand whatever I figure out. It was the great guy's here on this site that gave me the push to look into this and I appreciate you all for helping me to decide to give it a shot. I think that the fee should be centered around costs for insurance, fuel, maintenance, and equipment mainly and then a very small fee for my time which will be extremely conservative as I am not doing this to become rich ( that would never happen anyway)
I would again like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone that has accompanied me this season as I really have enjoyed my time on the water with you all and I for one believe that all of the trips were a success regardsless of the outcome/s.
You should do it. I was very impressed with your 6th sense for when and where the albies were when you were kind enough to take me out for a day in September.
I think the pictures you have been posting on this board probably have caught the interest of a few other people as well :hehe:
So sign me up for a day or 2 during prime albie season 2003...seriously!
Dave
PS can you puh-leeze send up that photo you posted on the board of my albie? My pics came out awful
Go for it Mike. Put me down for a day or two durning Albie season.FishHawk:smokin:
