Getting started

My dad is getting interested in making his own rods. Where are the best deals around to get wrapper, dryers and other building equipment?

Another question he had was can the rod blanks be painted a color, or do the blanks have to be bought already colored?

I did a search here before I posted, and most posts are pretty old. Was wondering if there is more up-to-date info on getting equipment.

Thanks!
