Stone's Olive Floating Nymph
OK, so the name needs work, but here is the basics
Hook: TMC 2487 G (gold emerger) Size 14
Thread: Olive 8/0 Unithread
Body: Olive marabu (cut from barb and used as dubbing)
Wings: White Dog Hair Ball (or white Buck-Tail would work)
Tie on behind the eye as normal.
Cut the soft barbs from a marabu feather and apply as dubbing to the line.
Wrap down body and back up to behind the eye.
Dub on the white hair and roll into a tight ball to sit on the top of the fly.
Secure ball at top and whip finish.
Voiala, you have it, and it caught a fish on the first cast, so it can't be all that bad!
I will post a pick as soon as I can figure out how to make the autofocus on my new camera work for the real close pictures!!!!
Tight lines and sturdy knots,
"Tying flies to catch fish and fisherman alike!"
