The following link will take you to a recent photo of the new break. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater The new break is the one on the right.

There was an article in the Chatham Chronicle (Feb 6 I think) that indicated that this new, 2014 break, appeared to be establishing itself as the main inlet. Don't know what this last storm has done. I went down to the Wildlife Refuge last week and there appeared to be a fairly deep channel even though it was low tide ( used my binoculars to get a better look). Will try to get down there later this week to see if there are any visible changes.

yeah from what I've heard it's going to obliterate that middle island and connect with the other one and sort itself out. It's a lot deeper where the new one is so it makes sense that it would be the dominant break. It can handle a lot more water right away so this should be interesting to see.

Big exchange and very direct. If you look up across from outermost, the neck of the old South Beach is very narrow and history dictates that sand moves south so fingers crossed that the lobe shifts downward and creates a new break right across from Outermost eventually as well
