Intruders for Stripers????

I started thinking about this last winter, but never got to tying any intruders so I never tested the theory this season. But in looking at different intruders tied by people in various places for steel and salmon, I've been wondering if anyone has ever tried any in the salt? I don't think they'd work in all situations. E.g., almost by definition I don't think they can be tied sparsely. But I can imagine some places I fish for stripers (natural and manmade outflows) where you have some of the same water dynamics of the rivers people fish intruders in for steel, etc., so some of the same benefits of intruders in rivers (movement - looking "alive" in the water) should apply?

So - anyone have any thoughts?

I think you are on the right track because the intruder is fly thy that pushes a lot of water and gets the attention of te fish from the disturbance it causes while pulling against the current. I have found that flies with a muddler style head are very effective in situations such as you describing, I use either a deer hair head or I spin big collar of slinky fiber to create the resistance and then use a snappy staccato strip to accentuate the pushing of the water. Stripers will often attack these flies really agressively. Give it a try.
