Question New England Spey Caster Needs help..

I am new to this site, Thanks to Juro on another Site, I found it. Looks like a great Forum.

I live on the North Shore, but willing to travel anywhere in the New England area for some help with the Spey. Looking to get some one on one spey instruction, or even just get on the water with a fellow newbie. I am new to the spey and have spent some time reading and watching DVDs. However, I am looking for a little in person instruction before I head up to Northern BC in September.. Any insight appreciated.

Take Care.

Randy

We are doing a casting thing down in Rhode Island on July 29th. It is a free,non-commercial gathering.

I run speypages.com and will be there with lines and rods for you to try and would be more than happy to help tune up your casting. It is at the seapowet wildlife preserve in tiverton, ri. A pretty straight shot coming from the boston area.

If you or anyone is interested let me know and I can post directions.

Hi Sean,

Thanks for replying.

Sounds great, I am upset that I can't make it. Starting next weekend I have three consecutive weekends of Weddings that I am invited to.

I will need to check spey pages as well. Talk to you there.

Thanks.

Randy

Welcome Randy -

We do spey get togethers on a regular basis here as well (eg. the nor'easter, Upper Pemi, Cattaraugus clave, salmon river etc)

The Speypages is the authoritative site for spey on the web IMHO check it out.

Found info for the RI get together on striper moon another to check out.

Sean,

Post those directions. I will go if I can find the place. I am staying in Sharon Mass just across the border.

It is more of a casting event and not focused on spey. I will be there from 8-noonish with my equipment helping people out...

Here are directions to Seapowet in RI:

From 95 go North to 195 east to 24 south to the exit just before the sakonnet river bridge. Exit 5,the Little Compton exit. Then you would go Left, south on rte 77. follow for approx five miles to Tiverton Four Corners. (traffic light) turn right at the light( neck road.) go to the end of the road and you come straight into Seapowet ave. turn right and drive along a mile or two and you will go over a little bridge and on the left is plenty of parking all the way through the area. There are a couple of other ways in, but I think using the traffic light for a "mark" to turn, works best.
From Hartford, you would take 395 to Providence it is 90 miles. then follow the above directions.
From Boston, take 24 south to 195 west to exit seven ( stay right, it is the very first exit ) then you are back on 24 south, then follow the directions above. it is 59 miles from Boston to Tiverton.

Sean

I would've loved to attend this but the 29th is the annual Uechi Ryu Summer Camp at the Maritime Academy and one of my instructors is testing for 7th Dan. I've already committed and am taking my #1 sensei for his first ever striper trip early Sunday. I assume he will do well.

Anyway I wanted to surprise you by showing up icognito but will have to be next time.
