Guides close to ferrules

I'm laying out the guides on my first rod, a 4 piece 9'. With the spacing I'm using it has one guide with the centre 1" from the female end of a ferrule and another one 3/4" from the male part of a ferrule. I know it probably comes down to looks but I'd like some experienced opinions so I atleast know I'm headed in the right direction.
