Pure parrafin on the ferrules

Just in case anyone missed this trick, the use of pure parrafin wax - dirt cheap at any grocery store - is one of the best substances to rub on rod ferrules to keep them from slipping while also ensuring the rod comes apart easily. Highly torsioned ferrule joints deserve further consideration toward being taped with eleectrical tape. for instance 15 foot four pc Spey rods.

Advantages: cheap, natural, holds together ferrules, loosens ferrules

Caveat: it melts in really hot weather, don't leave the wax where it can melt and soak into fabric, car seats, clothing, etc. A container that can handle wax as a liquid or solid is best. I melt some into a fuji film can. It reshapes after a hot day on the flats but when it hardens again it's still fine. I had a chunk of parrafin in a shirt pocket when it got washed and dried. The wash cycle was fine but the hot dryer melted the wax into the cotton - now I know how they do it at Barbour.
