A sick Rock Bass?

Today was a surprise for me. I was treated to four small-mouth bass and one rock bass on the Mahoning river, Ohio. (USA)
The smallmouths were about 1.5 - 2.5 lbs. each, they were extremely fun on my Orvis One Weight flyrod...
The rock bass has me worried.
It felt HOT to the touch... Well above the smallmouths temperature, above mine too.
The rock bass was caught in the shade at 8:00 am, so there should be no reason for it to be hot....
Is 's not spawning time, nor was the water hot.
Could this be the work of pollution?
The Mahoning river has a CFC warning for it, up to the dam at Newton Falls, Ohio.
I was fishing just below that dam when I caught the "HOT" rock bass...
I seen no signs of ick, and the little guy seemed to fight normally at the end of my line...
I waded over to the rocks were that he was hiding in, they too were cool to the touch, like the four smallmouth bass I released...
So why was this little rock bass hot?
Please share your thoughts.
Thank you:
"Somewhere, over the rainbows. I'll cast my fly...."
