Hook: Any suitable panfish hook (here, a long shank size 6)
Weight (optional): Bead
Thread: 6/0, yellow
Tail: Yellow marabou
Ribbing: Fine oval gold tinsel
Body: Chartruese Glo Bug yarn, tightly wrapped
Wing: Yellow marabou
This is a good fly for cold water, especially yellow perch just after ice-out when they're starting to get active. The fly can be worked slowly and still get plenty of action from the marabou.
The original recipe calls for a yellow chenille body, but I prefer the Glo Bug yarn for its visibility and ease of use. Don't use a strand of the yarn in the thickness that it comes in....pull it apart lengthwise and use only one half for each fly.
