WHAT!!! I am going to be up in the inner passage for 6 days next week. Will there be anything around then or are these fish on the west coast? Should I bring the fly rod??

Nothing down here in Washington yet.

Sorry so jumpy but I get real excited just thinking about coho on the beaches....

been seeing some salmon offshore the last couple weeks, but we're not open for salmon offshore until may 25th (chinook only) and coho opens july 7.

i expect another great year even with the lower columbia river coho totals.

running out to the halibut holes, i have to pass by beautiful salmon rips constantly.... just wetting the appetite until we open (whoever thought of making the opening day on memorial day weekend should be tortured).

I've been keeping close tabs on the commercial trollers here in Westport. They've been doing 100-200 plus chinnok a day this last week. Looks like a fair number of fish not too far out. If you've been running to 'but fish you've seen where they are.

I've been chucking crazy charlies off the beach for perch the last month and have seen several fish jumping right off the beach. THey must be summer runs heading for the Chehalis system...seems impossibly early to see any silvers in close. But it whets the appetite for what might be coming later.
