RE:Why fish at night?

This fish was taken from the Watch Hill Lighthouse about four years ago in October. It was a Sunday night and blowin' a fierce Nor'easter. The surf was running about 8 feet and the wind about 35 - 40 knots. There was no one around [too smart? not smart enough?]. The flyrod was out of the question, so I threw swimmin' plugs. Could only get the lure about 20 feet out, not even past the breakers. Didn't matter, as the white water was loaded with bass, mostly in the 28 - 36 inch range. The fish in the pic was 45 inches, 32lbs. He hit just before a huge wave broke that would have crushed me to a pulp. It blows my mind that such a large creature could navigate in such turbulence, in pitch dark, and not only do they not get crushed, but he actually sensed and hit my plug! Truely an awesome animal!

RE:Why fish at night?

It always amazes me that a bass, in the black of night, heavy surf, current... can find and eat a fly!!!!!!!
Plus with all the airy water, the fish are super hot.
Great fish Mike.... I spent many a night at Watch Hill.
