How does the cost compare? I know short money compared to gas, other gear etc...but I have a hard time spending $50+ for a UV flashlight and tube of dental grade adhesive when I can get the same amount of old fashioned epoxy at Benny's for $2.50. Am I right in the comparison there or has it come down?

I tested and demo'd the product a few weeks ago. At $85 for the large kit you are paying for the convenience of drying in 10 seconds Vs. regular epoxy. It does make for nice flies, as Pete has shown above. It is difficult to calculate how many flies one would get from the 30 CC of Core material, but my guess is the it would increase the cost Vs. regular 5 minute Epoxy. So how much is convenience worth?, a lot, to me, when I'm making several doz. flies at a time, otherwise follow Penguin's advice!

If it is that quick it might be worth it. Saw a demo a few years ago at Marlboro and with the multiple steps that just didn't seem to be the case. I guess I didn't ask correctly if there really was a value proposition or if it was just a new gimmick. Surprised if it is more efficient that I didn't see it at more tiers tables at the Edge show. There is a new competitor entering the ring who was at the Edge show so maybe we will get the best of both worlds.

Nice work Pete. I'm with Sean on the cost effectiveness of this product. I know BobPop is all over the use of Tuffflye, but... While the downside of 5-minute expoxy is its penchant to yellow, I find that when you can use 30-minute epoxy on a rotating wheel for some applications, the yellowing is postponed.

On some commercial patterns I've noticed over the years, a clear adhesive is used under and for attachment of large 3-D eyes I don't think it is exoxy or wrap coating for rodmaking. Anyone know what it might be?
