I tested the 10 foot 7 weight at the Marlborough show and was thoroughly impressed. I've ordered one to add to my collection as a steelhead rod. I don't do a lot of that type of fishing, so it's nice to get such a nice rod without a major investment.

Tim Rajeff, (brother of world fly casting champion and head rod designer at G. Loomis) is the president and CEO of Rajeff Sports (parent company of ECHO). He is a world class caster and fisherman in his own right, just not quite as good a caster as big brother Steve, but very close to Steve. Tim is very involved in the design and testing of ECHO rods. As a result, ECHO rods are among the true bargains in the rod world. Granted, they are made in Asia and don't have the best quality cork or reel seats, but if you want a good solid, casting, and performing rod that will be fine for all but the most discriminating anglers or the advanced casters, they are an excellent choice.

The ECHO 2-handers are also among the best casting bargains in the 2-handed rod world. Some of the them were designed to fit what Dec Hogan (a well-known PNW steelheader) likes in a 2-handed rod, and other were designed to fit what Tim (and a few others) like in a rod. They are of the mid-flex or somewhere between mid and full-flex, moderately stiff tip, progressive action.

Thumbs up Echo Classic 1307-4x

Find a line and a style that suits you and this thing will chuck line with the best of them. For me it's a 10/11 AFS head cut back 13 ft (500grains) plus 15 ft 7wt (95gr) or 8wt (109gr), even 13ft of CCT-20-200 (130gr) Skagit style. Any fly you want to toss. Cork ain't the best. But what do you expect for under $300? The reel seat is good quality, double up locking.
I fish because the voices in my head tell me to

I am a new owner of Freshwater ECHO2 9'0" (270cm) #5 . But have to test it first. It is decently made, comes with two tips, I am waiting for the new fly line to go with new rod.

I just got delivery of the Echo Classic Saltwater 9ft #7 and i have to say i'm impressed with the build (nice reel seat, guides and dots on the ferrules) and the fast tip action. its very light too.

these are on closeout for $99 inc. shipping.

I wonder why they are being discontinued ?
