Martha's Vineyard Dreaming

I just got back from a 5 day trip to the island. While searching for SBFT off Nomans we came across large areas of nervous water on a slick calm day. As we cautiously approached we were astonished to find huge schools of 25 to 35 inch stripers slowly swimming, shoulder to shoulder (do stripers have shoulders?), with their mouths agape. After throwing every northeast fly pattern without success, we finally could see what they we eating. Krill. In a frantic stiper fever, I searched for my Bahamas flybox. Tying on a Crazy Charlie with small black eye resulted in immediated action. After catching between 25 and 30 fish we had to leave to eat and sleep. What sweeet dreams.

Capeflydoc has a lot of tricks in his medicine bag I see!

Most men would not have their bahamas flybox on the island, therefore you are most deserving of that roughed up thumb.

I hope you realize you just liberated many, many anglers who've been frustrated by krill sippers

Awesome. Just got added to my fly box to try on those picky krill eating albies if I find them this year as well. I made the run to Nomans last Sunday. Was only a mile off the island and couldn't see it with all the fog. Not much life out there that day either. This just reinvigorated me to fill the gas tank back up.

And...

And file down the prop Sean!

As I was holding the boat to the dock at the ramp last Sunday I looked under the dock and passed the time observing the krill like critters in the shadows.

Looked like shrimpy krill to me and I suppose a bonefish fly would imitate these bad boys.

Nice work Doc.

All set Mike. Prop got a sanding last night and the GPS connections got a good cleaning and some dielectric grease added to prevent any future issues. All fired up to go and add bonito to the species on fly list. Hopefully we get some nice SW winds.
