My Ultimate Shrimp fly pattern is getting better...

Well gang,

A few more weeks of toying around with my new pattern and I think I've got it down pat now . I've tied them from size 8 up to size 1 and the bigger they get, the more realistic they look. I'm even starting to think that no self-respecting Permit would consider passing one of these up .

I've attached a couple 'artsy' pics for you to see. The fancy stuff is just my temporary way of copyprotecting the images .

I've got lots of "hi-res" pics available should some of you want to get in close to see the details.

Cheers!

Henry

That's a great looking pattern. How long does it take to tie/epoxy one?

Great work.

Hi Mark,

I tie up a 1/2 dozen in a session and it takes about 1hr including epoxy steps.

Flies are all tied first ready for epoxy then I get two blobs of 5min. epoxy on the go mixed about 3mins apart. From there it's just a matter of going from one fly to the next.

I've spent the better part of 4 or 5 hrs tying a single salmon fly so I guess 1/2 doz. per hour is reasonable.

Tight loops!

Henry

Thanks Henry. That's more per hour than I assumed (which is a good thing).
