1st trip

i went on my 1st trip of the year for steel and didn't catch any but i did manage to catch four small bows and snagged on sucker

Keep at it!

As long as you caught some fish, and had some fun, don't worry. You will catch on after a few trips. Try to ask other anglers what they are having success on, and spend more time observing other anglers - where they fish, what they are using, technique, etc.

went again yesterday and only caught the rainbows again i know there are steelheads there but i just can't get them to hit i am fishing below the weir on the root river in racine some of you should know where that is help please

Yep know it, deeper and slower is the hint. Also use an egg fly, such as the oregon cheese color.

Don't give up also !

Also be careful it can be dangerous there at times with some of the local characters that fish it. I'm serious about this.
