Count me in

Thanks for the email, mjyp. I'll be there and can bring a few different sticks depending on what you get set up. I don't know that there are other CND Steelhead Specialists around here yet, so I'll plan to bring that for sure. It likes the Mo' already.

hello mark. wondering if the campground will be available to stay in? if the picnic tables did not get back to the sites they belonged on last spring, i may be barred!

maybe ron barche has put together a cane two hander for this year? his trout rods were certainly impressive, especialy with ty & juro casting.

thanks for everybodys efforts. more than willing to help out as well. SG

Neil/Juro...I will be sure to bring extra sausage(I have seen the both of you eat:hehe:). I think we can get by without the canoe if need be.

Carl.. Rods would be a welcome addition.

Peter...That is a big YES to those supplies.

SG...The campground should be open, we are in the process of firming that up.

Update on Henning Park Spey Clave

Hello folks! Woodlander has contacted me as to our TU Chapter(KVCTU Kalamazoo Valley Chapter of TU) supplying the food for the upcoming Spey Clave at Henning Park. Am in the process now of getting info to the "board members"and see if we can do that for the Clave? Planning on getting some propane grills and doing brats, Polish Sausage, hamburgers, and hot dogs with all the necessary buns and condiments. Want to have a variety of chips and other snack paks as well as several coolers of a variety of soft drinks and bottled water plus, my mainstay, good, hot coffee. Now, please be aware that this is only tenative at this point, OK? It must meet with approval. I must ask..will there be any electricity (110v) available for the coffee pot(s)? Please advise me of any other things that we might be thinking of supplying as far as "eats" go in case I've overlooked some things. I am very optimistic that our TU Chapter will approve of this venture. Thanks to Woodlander for the asking. Best regards, Stiver ****************************************************NOTE UPDATE: 02/13/' 04 KVCTU has declined the offer to provide the food for this Clave due to the conflict with Mothers' Day Weekend. So sorry, no can do this year. Best, Stiver:( :( :( :(

spey clave wkend

Is anyone aware of the fact that is MOTHER'S DAY wkend! As to how that is an important wkend to most married men ( at least to stay on the good side of the wife if you spend a 100 days a yr on the water like I do), that might hurt attendence. Any chance of changing the date of the clave?

Interesting point, those dates are carved in stone due to Andy Murrays attendance.

Good news is Saturday is not Mothers Day which makes it easier for all to attend.

Just seeing Andy cast is worth the trip.

Thanks for the heads up.

It's not Wifes' Day, it's Mothers' Day. Many of us have elderly mothers who truly look forward to this event, and I don't mean by spending the time on the water. For those of us who would have to travel quite a distance, a one day event may not be worth it. As I've noted on another board, it is nearly impossible to pick a date that doesn't have a conflict. Last year, I believe, it was opening day of trout season in the area. However, I think it will be beneficial to avoid the MD weekend in 2005. Also, please remember the mjyp didn't set these dates.

Truth is, I don't remember Dan asking us for any imput on dates this year. Maybe he did and I missed it. For 2003 there was quite a bit of discussion about the best dates and, in fact, the dates were changed a couple of times. I think Dan picked these dates to avoid the circus of opening day of trout season without realizing it was Mothers' Day.

For the record, those were the only days we could get Andy Murray. Pure and simple.

Tough choice, Spey Clave with Andy Murray or Spey Clave without. Not to mention Glenn was generous enough to cover Andy's expenses.

Which one would you choose??

Also Dan had nothing to do with bringing Andy on. It was through the dauntless efforts of Doug and Glenn. For that we owe them a big THANK YOU!!!! :)

Any chance of doing three days? That way people could play hooky on Friday and get two days, those who are free men ;) could attend Sunday as well.

Just a suggestion. BTW - all this talk about brots had me running to the store to get some yesterday :hehe:

I think Andy is coming into town on Thursday. Glenn is supposed to be holding a Spey casting class with Andy being the instructor.

I am 99% sure the classes will be held on Friday and or Monday. Possibly both days, with a beginners class on one day and an advanced class on the other.

Once more is know I'll post.

As always please feel free to e-mail glspeyclave@hotmail.com for any off-line questions.

Thanks

Sponsorship of this site encouraged

I did call to sign up for the intermediate class, though Andy will probably tell me I've overstated my case (I'm a long-standing member of the Sucky Caster Club). I hope to see others of you there!

If you call to sign up for the class, please ask the folks at Great Lakes to become a sponsor of this site, as their sponsorship of the clave shows they have some interest in supporting speyfishing--and the midwest membership of this forum is growing. I did ask, and Ty said he's been discussing this with Glen (owner).

Clave Update

We have a special surprise for all Clave attendees.

There will be an R. B. Meiser two hander available for auction. If any of you are familiar with his rods, you know how great they are.

A big Thank You goes out to Bob for allowing us to do this.

Bob you are the best!!!! :)

(Bob will be following up with rod details)

The auction will be run e-bay like; the winner will be the person who bid $1.00 over the second highest bid. This will be a silent auction; bid sheets and place to deposit bids will be provided on day of clave.

This will be a cash only auction so please be sure to bring plenty of folding money.

Once again Thank You Bob for your generosity.
