Peter,
I have been there several times, but have not had the chance to fish. I had not ever seen another person fishing, either, when I was there......, BUT there is always a first!
It is a great hotel and right next to the Navy SEALS training groud., Also, there is a great bar in the hotel with an awesome selection of scotch!
Good luck and I hope someone else can add some decent fishing details.
Cheers,
DK
North Island Naval Air Station is at the end of the beach...I flew heavy metal transports in there many times but stayed at the Coronado Hotel across the street...
The del Coronado is a stick built all wood legend and the main dining room is a work of art where CA big shots go to be seen...big buck$ / great food!
The beach is broad and long and the slope shallow...almost resembling ocean flats...
Bring a rod and basket and wade your butt off! Great charter opportunities nearby in the backside marinas...
...The airfield may be busy...bring ear plugs and keep your back casts low!
Don't make fun of anyone with short hair 'cause SEALS are everywhere and frequently travel in packs...
DO NOT attempt to feed, pet, or annoy them! :hihi:
I'll stay clear of the seals -- not fond of fish breath.
Crazy Charlies and small clousers OK?
