Thats is an interesting note you posted on the xi tip flexing basically out of the way while you are fighting a big fish, I can definetly see the advantage of getting the tip out of the way and fight the fish off the mid section and butt Which is exactly what the xi felt like. I never thought of it in that context. That rod is a fish fighting machine just felt a little different casting it to me. Hopefully the xi2 will have the same fighting ability, which I have not tried yet on tarpon, But come the end of January I will be in hot pursuit of the silver king.
Casting the 10wt xi2 is probably the easiest casting rod I have used, I'm looking forward to putting it to the test, if the tarpon gods are on my side.
