Thanks JD, John - it sounds like I am going to try some this year.

The wire we mention is for the purpose of stopping cut-offs and I'm not sure it would have any benefit although one never knows.

There is also a very popular wire used by gear guys for jigging on the bottom for stripers. I wonder if that's the stuff you might experiment with? It stocked on virtually every serious striper tackle shop shelf around here. I have no experience with it except for watching the charters that use it out on Billingsgate shoal, thinking "I would never pay to do that" as they labor over those jigs off the transom.
