RE:Washburn Island Camping
I'm no expert, my previous reply was just to say that we learned a lot about the resource and it's fishing during the Boneclave. Surprisingly, most people I have seen while camping out there are not there for the fishing just outside the estuary. Most are just looking for a retreat that is only accessible by boat, just outside of a busy tourist spot yet a taste of the way the coast might have been before sprawl. Many are kayak / campers, others are simply there to enjoy the beauty of a wildlife refuge on coastal cape cod - a rare thing indeed. I suspect if anything bad came out of my Boneclave idea, more people may start to compete for the limited sites available today. I guess that's a good thing too, the more folks who care about these places the better!
It's booked for that time frame but... there are many openings for campers at other times of the year besides the bonito / albie season. Bass fishing there is great, and right now is a good time to hit it!
Hope you get out there for a camp / fish escape someday. It's a beautiful place to stay, as the pictures show.
