Yep, I made that mistake 15 years ago and survived a fall down a Pere Marquette steep iced over fishermans trail, did not break the rod, but skinned my hands, little blood etc.. Got up and continued right after those big wild PM fresh chromers on a cold march day. Can't remember how I did, to long ago.

Guess I am not as hard core as I used to be, maybe we should call it "prudently hard core" as we advance in age.
