OK - couldn't stay away...

Actually, he was fresh off the plane from Seattle and I rushed him to the water to jump on Capt. Bruce Peter's 25' boat, "Miss Lillian". Bruce is a bass hound if there ever was one and Brian had the lucky hand all afternoon.
It's easy to download the software. The results aren't visible unless you have java runtime, so if anyone wanted to author some of this stuff we would use a common directory where the class files live. I used low-res images to save space but you can set the zoom ranges (min/max) and thus for high res images you could really get good fidelity at big zoom rates. The trade-off is performance, which is already burdened with the applet load times.
I didn't get fancy but if you use same pixel size images then you can do power-point style fades, dissolves, and other transition types.
Another applet vendor (freeware) is "Anfy", who is the supplier of the water applet I used on stripers101 dawn scene. Anfy has a similar mechanism as this, and I believe it (applet) may be faster loading.
In any case it's a fun tool and will have applications in the Forum over time.
